Appledore

Appledore over estuary Appledore is a quaint little port and fishing village with a picturesque quayside.  It has a wealth of maritime history due to its shipbuilding and seafaring past.  It is known for its beautiful fisherman’s cottages, little shops, art galleries, craft shops and cafés to enjoy, as you wander and explore the tiny cobbled lanes and courtyards.

Appledore with its quiet narrow streets, holds annual Art Festivals and Book Festivals demonstrating village community spirit (whilst also attracting celebrities!).  There is a slipway facility to launch small boats as it is the point where the rivers of the Taw and Torridge meet before they converge into the Atlantic from Bideford Bay.  The port and market town of Bideford is 3 miles away, where a range of national and local shops, banks and recreational facilities can be found.  It is close to the A39 North Devon Link Road leading to the regional centre of Barnstaple, 12 miles away.
